Beat the Heat with Treatment from miraDry® Dallas Experts

Excessive sweating can cause embarrassing stains and odor and leave noticeable antiperspirant marks on your clothes. Our Botox® and miraDry® Dallas area experts skillfully treat the condition known as hyperhidrosis. Read more to learn about hyperhidrosis and the different treatment options we offer.

What is Hyperhidrosis?

There are two types of hyperhidrosis: primary focal and secondary generalized. Primary focal is sweating that is not related to or caused by another medical condition. The International Hyperhidrosis Society lists the following criteria as signs you may have primary focal hyperhidrosis:

  • You sweat the same on both sides of your body.
  • Sweating impairs your daily activities.
  • You experience at least one episode a week.
  • Symptoms begin before the age of 25.
  • You have a family history of similar sweating problems.
  • You stop sweating when you’re sleeping.

Another medical condition causes secondary generalized, or it presents as a side effect of medication. People with secondary generalized sweat on larger parts of their body, while those with primary focal sweat in more specific areas.

How does miraDry® work?

RejuvedermMD Aesthetic Center in Allen offers this option for treatment by our miraDry® Dallas area experts for excessive sweating. miraDry® works with an easy process that takes about an hour to complete. First, miraDry® expert prepares and numbs the underarm. Next, the miraDry® hand device is applied to the skin on your underarm. The hand device uses thermal energy to create heat and destroy the sweat glands. This treatment permanently eliminates the sweat glands so they never grow back, allowing you to be stress and sweat free.

How does Botox™ work for excessive sweating?

Botox® most commonly treats wrinkles and fine lines on a person’s face. However, it can also be used to combat excessive sweating. Our Dallas area experts use Botox® to block the nerves that activate sweat glands. The Botox® paralyzes the nerves just in the specific area it is injected, allowing your body to still produce sweat in the areas it needs.

Both miraDry® and Botox® offer great results for the treatment of hyperhidrosis. Learn more about each and schedule an appointment with us today.
