KYBELLA®

KYBELLA® is the only FDA approved injectable treatment used in adults to improve the appearance of moderate to severe fat below the chin in adults. This fat can also be called a double chin or submental fullness. Submental fullness can be caused by genetics, or it can start to appear as you age or gain weight. The active ingredient in KYBELLA® is deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule in the body that help break down fat. When KYBELLA® is injected under the chin, it destroys fat cells making them unable to store or accumulate fat.

KYBELLA® is a good nonsurgical option if you are unhappy with the fat under your chin, you feel your chin makes you look older or heavier than you are and eat well and exercise without seeing any improvement.

What to expect

At each treatment, you will receive multiple small injections under your chin lasting about 15 minutes. The exact number of injections will depend on the amount of fat you have under your chin and your desired outcome. Your provider will help you determine the number of treatments required. Each KYBELLA® treatment is given one month apart. The most common side effects include: swelling, pain, numbness, redness and areas of hardness in the treatment area.
